Pentagon Black Compilation No. 4
"Fuck The Rebel"

This is Pentagon Black Compilation No. 4, we’re calling it a “phone comp.” 19 musical acts between Vancouver and Halifax recorded original unreleased tracks live via phone (no multi tracking allowed), then made them downloadable via code on the back of 500 art postcards by illustrator Lisa Czech (lisaczechofficial.com). Get the 6x6” postcard, use the download code on its back to get the music. “Low fi and spirited" and “short and sweet” are its epithets.

This song was a direct response to the "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville, NC that lead to the murder of Heather Heyer who was counter-protesting against white supremacists, white nationalists, neo-Confederates, Klansmen, neo-Nazis, and various militias.

In Canada, we have media outlets like The Rebel Media and The Proudboys stirring up anti-immigrant, anti-muslim, anti-women, pro-fascist rhetoric that has already prompted followers like Alexandre Bissonnette to commit mass murder at a mosque in Quebec City. Bissonnette obsessively visited the Twitter accounts of Donald Trump, Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham, Fox News personalities; David Duke, the former leader of the Ku Klux Klan; Alex Jones of Infowars; conspiracy theorist Mike Cernovich; Richard Spencer, the white nationalist; and senior White House adviser Kellyanne Conway. Bissonnette checked in on the Twitter account of Ben Shapiro, editor in chief of the conservative news site the Daily Wire, 93 times in the month leading up to the shooting.

Bissonnette told officers that his mass murder was set off by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s message of welcome to refugees in the wake of President Trump’s entry ban, which was issued two days before the mosque attack. Let us also not forget the disingenuous nature of Trudeau's comments, which actually fail to acknowledge actual Canadian policy, as well as the growing tide of racism and xenophobia happening in our Country.
